Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out is a Firefox add-on that sets permanent opt-out cookies to stop targeted advertising by 27 different advertising networks, including Google/Doubleclick and many other members of the Network Advertising Initiative.
Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out sets permanent, generic, non personally identifiable opt-out cookies in the user`s browser, which will prevent 27 different online advertising networks from collecting information on that user.
Unlike other earlier opt-out solutions, Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out will make the cookies completely persistent. That is, clearing the browser`s cookies will delete all other installed cookies, except these.
Users wishing to delete these 41 cookies (some advertising networks require multiple cookies, for different domain names) must first remove the add-on.
So, all you have to do to see Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out at work is to delete all installed cookies from the preferences window.
NOTE: The Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out add-on is cross-platform and it works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
