Place Images is a free and simple to use InDesign script that will help you replace all text frames containing file names of images with actual images.
A file name should be delimited with @ signs e.g. @picture.tif@. A text frame may contain an additional text, for example comments, but no more than 100 characters.
This is a preventive measure, as all text will disappear after placing an image so that not to destroy main part of the text.
